Plaintiff Julie Corzine filed her refrigerator class action lawsuit against Whirlpool and Maytag in November 2015. She claimed that some of their refrigerator models have a defect that leads to a buildup of ice that eventually causes water leakage from the bottom of the appliances.
Whirlpool attempted to dodge the suit but was forced to face the claims by a federal judge in October 2016. While the judge dismissed some negligence claims, she found that the plaintiff’s breach of warranty allegations were still able to proceed.
Whirlpool agreed to settle the class action against them in July. Under settlement terms, the company will pay $21 million and will continue its replacement parts program through the end of 2021.
Who Is Eligible?
The settlement benefits all class members who purchased certain Whirlpool-manufactured refrigerators, acquired the refrigerators as part of a home purchase or remodel, or who received the refrigerators as a gift.

What Is The Pay For This Settlement?
The pay for this settlement is Up to $150 in compensation, based on the following reimbursement rules:
