Arnesia Thomas, Pascha Perkins and Vernita Faison filed a class action lawsuit against Walmart Inc. and Wal-Mart Stores Inc. The class action lawsuit was filed in Illinois federal court.

Thomas, Perkins and Faison claim Walmart inflates the actual thread count of its Hotel Style-brand bed sheet sets to make them appear higher quality than they actually are.

The plaintiffs are represented by Andrea R. Gold and Leora N. Friedman of Tycko & Zavareei LLP and Frank Bartela and Nicole T. Fiorelli of Dworken & Bernstein.

The case is Thomas, et al. v. Walmart Inc., Case No. 1:23-cv-05315, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

What Is This Class Action All About?

Walmart misrepresents the actual thread count of its Hotel Style brand bed sheet sets it sells, manufactures, labels, distributes, and advertises, a new class action lawsuit alleges.

Plaintiffs Arnesia Thomas, Pascha Perkins, and Vernite Faison claim Walmart misrepresents the Hotel Style bed sheet sets as having an 800 thread count, when, in reality, the real thread count is “far less.”

“Because of the improperly inflated thread counts that Walmart represented on the packaging and labeling of the Hotel Style Sheets, in purchasing these sheets, Plaintiffs and the putative classes received far less than what Walmart promised them,” the Walmart class action states.

The plaintiffs argue Walmart “commonly and consistently” communicates to its customers that a bed sheet with a higher thread count is more comfortable and of higher quality than those with a lower thread count.

The plaintiffs want to represent a nationwide class and California and Illinois subclasses of consumers who have purchased Hotel Style bed sheets from Walmart within the applicable statute of limitations.
