What Is This Class Action All About?
Zipadee Kids has issued a recall of about 7,450 Zipadee Montessori beds, as they pose an entrapment and strangulation hazard.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website published the recall Aug. 17. It applies to Zipadee Montessori beds sold in twin-, full- and queen-size variations of the Convertible House Bed Frame and Montessori Floor Bed that were shipped between Feb. 26, 2018, and Oct. 22, 2021.
According to the kids’ bed recall, the spindles on the recalled beds are spaced at a distance that creates a “serious entrapment hazard” that can lead to strangulation.
“The design of the bed allows a child’s torso to slip through the rail opening but will not allow their head to pass, posing entrapment and strangulation hazards that could result in death,” the recall states.
At least two children have become entrapped in the bed rails so far, the recall states — a 21-month-old boy who was not injured and a 4-year-old girl who sustained minor injuries in February 2023.
The company is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.
