The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website published the recall Aug. 3. It applies to 62,100 Amana-branded Packaged Terminal Air Conditioners and Heat Pumps (PTACs) assembled with “DigiAir” modules sold in the United States and about 302 sold in Canada. 

According to the recall, the DigiAir module compressor in the units can overheat, creating a burn and fire hazard. 

Daikin Comfort Technologies received 52 reports of incidents with the DigiAir compressor, including 10 that resulted in fires. No injuries have been reported. 

The company is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.
