What are Amazon Prime calls
This is a telephone scam that includes an automated call informing the recipient that they have opened an Amazon Prime account and should “press one” to cancel the transaction. When you push the button, the call connects to a fraudster posing as an Amazon customer service representative. The scammer then proceeds to informs the victim that their subscription was purchased fraudulently due to a supposed “security flaw” on the targeted person’s computer. The scam Amazon representative then asks for remote access to the recipient’s computer, supposedly to fix the security breach. This Remote access allows the scammers to steal personal information, including passwords and banking details.

- Your mother’s maiden name
- Your Amazon username or password

Amazon is aware of phishing phone calls targeting customers by stating that they have been charged for an item/membership or stating their account has been compromised and is being used to make online purchases. The caller asks the customer to download a remote access software and grant the caller access to change or stop transactions.
Please do not respond with information about your Prime Membership or Purchases and do not download the prompted software. Amazon takes such phishing and spoofing attempts on their customers very seriously.
